Whole30 Resources

So we're about a month into quarantine and I've decided to do a Whole30.

This is either the smartest thing I've ever done or the dumbest....

Like most people, I've been eating, and drinking 🙊, my way through this quarantine. Lots of carbs and alcohol and very little veggies or fruit and my body is feeling it! My joints hurt, I'm bloated all the time, and I'm tired all the time. The thing about being stuck in quarantine with your family is that your kids are around ALL.THE.TIME and need a lot of attention. So being tired all the time is not really an option.

For those of you who have never done a Whole30 or who have never even heard of it, it's a 30 day nutrition plan to eliminate inflammation in the body. It's not a diet plan or a detox. It's more of a reset  to "help you curb your cravings and bad habits, boost your metabolism, heal your digestive tract, and calm your immune system." During the 30 days, you eliminate the foods that are most commonly known to cause inflammation; gluten, diary, alcohol, sugar, and legumes. After the 30 days, you slowly reintroduce those foods into your diet and if they cause issues (headaches, stomach pain, skin issues, etc) then you eliminate those foods until they no longer cause issues.

It seems like a lot! I've done a couple of them successfully (I've also failed a few) but I did a ton of research before the first one. I mean a couple months worth of research! Part of that was because I wasn't ready to fully commit but I'm also a planner so I wanted to be sure I knew the best tips, tricks and recipes.

So for the next 30 (well, 27. I'm already 3 days in) I thought I would share everything I have learned and am learning on this Whole30 journey.

I thought I would share my favorite resources with you for my first post.

1) The Whole30 website itself https://whole30.com/. It's full of recipes, tips, information, forums, and even coaches to walk you through the program.

2) Pinterest! There are a ton of recipes on Pinterest but be sure to read through them thoroughly. There are quite a few recipes listed as "whole30 approved" but include ingredients that are not.

3) The Paleo Running Momma blohttps://www.paleorunningmomma.com/. I have made a ton of her recipes and I have yet to be disappointed. You can look recipes up by the meal or Whole30 itself.

4) It Starts With Food and Food Freedom Forever are the two books I HIGHLY recommend reading while you go through your Whole30 journey. It Starts With Food lays out the plan and why you need to do it in a lot more detail. Food Freedom Forever lays out a 3 part plan to find your triggers, deal with unsupportive friends and family, and by the end, you will be able to create the perfect "diet" for you.

5) There are a few Whole30 cookbooks available on Amazon. I have yet to use one but they are full of amazing recipes in one place.

I hope these resources are helpful!

Do you have a favorite Whole30 blog? I'm always in need of a good recipe idea!
